The story behind the icon
The station takes its name from its nearness to the Azcapotzalco campus of the Metropolitan Autonomous University.
The university was founded in 1974 during the government of Luis Echeverría. It was created after the student movement of 68 in the wake of the rise in quality that would provide opportunities for students. The icon is the logo of the Metropolitan Autonomous University.
