The story behind the icon
The station icon represents the left profile of José María Morelos y Pavón. The station takes its name from its position in the Morelos neighbourhood, near the STC Metro station Morelos. Morelos y Pavón, a mulatto, was a priest, politician, leader and soldier during the War of Independence of Mexico, and he assumed its leadership after the execution of Miguel Hidalgo. Through his struggle, the liberal Constitution of 1814 became possible.
