The story behind the icon
The station icon represents the graphic union of two Nahuatl concepts: mixtli, cloud, plus calli, house, which, combined with the locative co, gives a word meaning the place of the house of the clouds. The station takes its name from its position in the Centro neighbourhood, on Mixcalco street. This street is famous for its markets and its traditional pulque shops, and the sixth unit of the La Merced Market is known as Mixcalco. In this street one can find stalls of clothing, shoes and haberdashery.
