The story behind the icon
The station icon represents a wooden crate with apples. The station takes its name from its position in the Merced Balbuena neighbourhood, near the La Merced Market and close to the La Merced Metro station. Trade in this area goes back more than 500 years. It is also one of the most important markets in Mexico City, and in it we find foods from every region of the country, from tostadas de pata to cheese from Oaxaca, fruit and vegetables, though healing balms and love charms can also be found.
