The story behind the icon
The station takes its name from its nearness to the National Polytechnic Institute. The IPN was founded in 1936 during the presidency of Lázaro Cárdenas with the intention of offering upper secondary, higher and postgraduate education to the most unprotected classes. It is now one of the most important educational institutions in Mexico and Latin America. Icon of the Politécnico Metro station.
