The story behind the icon
The station icon represents a drop of water falling into a pipe. The station takes its name from its position in the Centro neighbourhood and on Avenida Eduardo Molina, or Eje 3 Oriente. The engineer Eduardo Molina was Director of Waters of Mexico City in 1935 and, so that the city should suffer no more droughts like the one endured in 1922, he piped the Lerma river in 1960 to supply the Federal District with clean water. The Eje 3 Oriente arose, along with the rest of the city's axis roads, in the 70s, as part of the mobility project of the Department of the Federal District. Each axis road was designed to be a sagittal line running one way or both ways, and on the one-way avenues a lane in the opposite direction was assigned for the exclusive use of public transport vehicles.
