The story behind the icon
The station takes its name from its position on Avenida de las Culturas.
The avenue lies in the Azcapotzalco neighbourhood; in the area the streets take the names of different cultures around the world. The pre-Hispanic icon represents one of the pre-Hispanic cultures of Mexico.
