The story behind the icon
The icon of Corregidora station represents the silhouette of Doña Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, Corregidora of Querétaro. She is the best known and best remembered of Mexico's heroines; she was born in the capital of New Spain on 19 March 1771, daughter of the captain of the regiment of the morados, Don Juan José Ortiz, and of his wife, Señora Manuela Girón.
