The story behind the icon
The icon of Ayuntamiento station represents the central part of the main façade of the building now occupied by the Tlalpan borough offices.
The building was the town hall until 1929; it was built between 1900 and 1907 by the architect Antonio Rivas Mercado, who also built the column of Independence on the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City.
