The story behind the icon
The station image is the silhouette of a shrimp.
In 1790 there was a small town called Camarones. It stood on a royal road that ran from San Salvador Xochimanca to the outskirts of Azcapotzalco, and also crossed the settlements of San José, San Bernabé, Aspetia and Santa Martha. The road was edged on one side by a row of great trees, and on the other there was a small river that was a kind of conduit, along which the water ran from north to south and which ended in the Consulado river, and this in turn carried it to Lake Texcoco.
Long before those times the road took the name of Camarones, since that conduit carried in its waters some small creatures which, roasted and wrapped in maize leaves, took on a flavour like that of the shrimp.
