The story behind the icon

It stands at Avenida Chimalhuacán, corner of Avenida Nezahualcóyotl, and takes its name from its nearness to that avenue. Nezahualcóyotl was the monarch (tlatoani) of the city-state of Tetzcuco (Texcoco) in ancient Mexico; he was the son of Ixtlilxóchitl, lord of the city of Texcoco, and of the Mexica princess Matlalcihuatzin, daughter of the Aztec tlatoani Huitzilíhuitl. Nezahualcóyotl is known as the Poet King of Texcoco for his well-known taste for writing poetry. The word Nezahualcóyotl comes from Nahuatl and means coyote that fasts. Its symbol represents the image of Nezahualcóyotl.

Besides the regular (Ordinario) service, Line 3 (Chimalhuacán – Pantitlán) runs four Express services that skip stations: Express 1 (Acuitlapilco – Pantitlán, 13 stops, 37 min, daily), Express 2 (Chimalhuacán – Pantitlán, 8 stops, 40 min, Monday to Saturday), Express 3 (Rayito de Sol – Pantitlán, 8 stops, 22 min, Monday to Friday) and Express Rosa (Chimalhuacán – Pantitlán, 10 stops, 40 min, Monday to Saturday), which is for women only. They all use the same platforms as the regular service, so you can switch service at any shared station.
