The story behind the icon
Situated on Avenida San Rafael Atlixco, it owes its name to Avenida Río Mayo, which lies near the station; the river referred to is the Mayo river of north-western Mexico, in the state of Sonora. Its icon represents the course of the river as it crosses the semi-arid landscape of the region where it lies, and a cactus, a plant native to the area.
