The story behind the icon

The station icon represents the front of the altar dedicated to Ehécatl-Quetzalcóatl.

It takes its name from being situated on Avenida José Ma. Pino Suárez. The pyramid is a low platform over three earlier structures, each with a stairway and balustrades. Each structure was built at a different time, essentially altering its form, orientation and dedication as a shrine. The cylinder has a band with globular studs representing jades or chalchihuites (precious stones), and it has four steps leading to the upper part, where the shrine stood. This circular altar suggests that it was dedicated to Ehécatl, the god of the wind. It was discovered during the building of the Pino Suárez Metro station.
