The story behind the icon
The station takes its name from its position within the district of La Villa.
The neighbourhood is a historic locality of the town of Guadalupe.
It stands on what was once the Tepeyac. The story tells that on the hill nearby the Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego, asking him to have a church built in that place. The station icon represents the upper part of the Basilica of Guadalupe.
