The story behind the icon
The station takes its name from the fact that the Gustavo A. Madero borough offices are there. Before being a borough, the area was known as the town of Villa de Guadalupe Hidalgo, because the treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo was signed there. It was in 1931 that it became a borough of Mexico City, but only in 1941 did it receive its present name, the Gustavo A. Madero borough.
Gustavo A. Madero was a renowned politician, brother of Francisco I. Madero; together they fought to prevent the re-election of Porfirio Díaz. Gustavo Adolfo was a key figure in his brother's government until he was murdered during the coup d'état led by Huerta. The icon is the logo of the Gustavo A. Madero borough.
