The story behind the icon

The station image is the silhouette of the friar Saint Anthony of Padua.

Saint Anthony of Padua, a friar of the Franciscan order in 1195, is depicted with the child and the halo, symbol of innocence.

Saint Anthony evangelised some places in Italy and many French cities. His career as a preacher lasted nine years. He died in Padua (Venice, Italy) on 13 June 1231. Pope Gregory XI canonised him a year after his death. This avenue, in the south of Mexico City, begins in the west at the crossing with Avenida Central, crosses Revolución and Patriotismo avenues and, on reaching Insurgentes, becomes Eje 6 Ángel Urraza. From east to west it begins at the eastern Anillo Periférico near the San Juan canal, passes the Central de Abastos, crosses the Río Churubusco canal, the Circuito Interior Río Churubusco, Eje 3 Oriente, La Viga, Las Torres, Plutarco E. Calles, Tlalpan, the Eje Central and Insurgentes, until it reaches Avenida Central once more.
