The story behind the icon

The station image is a market stall.

Tianguis comes from the Nahuatl tianquiztli, meaning market or trading square, which connects it with the modern Plaza Aragón shopping centre. The shopping centre is at Avenida Carlos Hank González 120, Rinconada de Aragón neighbourhood.

It is one of the many shopping centres that appeared at the beginning of the seventies in very exclusive places, resembling the United States commercial model. This enormous building has parking all around it, and along the whole length and breadth of its corridors.

It has commercial premises offering the products and services typical of such places (clothing, shoe shops, pharmacies, bookshops, fast food, dry cleaners, beauty salons, consulting rooms and so on), as well as large self-service stores, cinemas, a permanent exhibition of robot dinosaurs, entertainment attractions such as video-game arcades, mechanical rides for children and various services.
