The story behind the icon

The name of this station comes from the name of the most representative street of the area: Volcán de Fuego.

The Volcán de Fuego is of the stratovolcano type: it stands on the boundary of the states of Colima and Jalisco in Mexico. Its formation goes back to the Pleistocene era; it is the most active volcano in the whole country and is continually emitting gases. The Volcán de Fuego is also known as the Volcán de Colima; near it stands the Nevado volcano, which is inactive and in winter covers its peak with snow.
