The story behind the icon

The station icon represents an Aztec vessel. The station takes its name from the nearby street so called, which forms part of the Barrio San Andrés de las Salinas neighbourhood. The old Calzada de Vallejo would be one of the roads of Mexico City on the Silver Route; the coming and going of goods would enrich the area, a situation reflected in the establishment of several inns and hostelries. Whether they were going from Azcapotzalco to La Villa or from Tenayuca to Tlatelolco, travellers and wayfarers would stop to recover their lost strength on this branch of the Camino de Tierra Adentro.
