The story behind the icon
The icon of El Caminero station represents the silhouette of the Monument to the Roadbuilder. The first motorway built in Mexico is the one leading from Mexico City to Cuernavaca, inaugurated in 1956; on that occasion the Monument to the Roadbuilder was raised at the start of that important road.
It is a sculptural group formed by three figures in quarry stone, of men holding a drill, a theodolite and a book.
