The story behind the icon
The station icon represents the symbol of a cross standing for Saint Anthony Abbot, a man who grew in holiness and became a model of Christian piety. The iconography reflects this, representing Saint Anthony with the black habit of the Hospitallers and the tau, or Egyptian cross, which came to be his emblem.
