The story behind the icon
The station icon is a sailing boat with a crown.
The Remedios river is one of the few watercourses still existing in Mexico City. This river, along with others, forms part of the basin of the Moctezuma river in the Pánuco hydrological region. According to data from the National Water Commission, it mixes its waters with those of the great drainage canal coming from the Federal District at a junction, from which the great canal continues northwards and the Remedios river eastwards.
The river in question, together with the Sales canal and intermittent streams, works as a collector and shows a high degree of pollution as it passes through residential and industrial areas, so that the quality of the water deteriorates little by little because of the many waste discharges that join it along its course and that contain a significant concentration of harmful substances such as heavy metals, solvents, acids, fats and oils, among others.
